Each year at the patronal feast we make floats according to the theme that is proposed to us during the year. For example: the year of the Rosary, the year of the family, etc. And so we come to the year of St. Joseph. We decided to make our floats with some litanies of St. Joseph. We informed the different institutions of the town, so that the children of the catechesis with their respective catechists could participate. The whole atmosphere was one of celebration and expectation, to see how these litanies of St. Joseph were going to develop on our patronal feast.
The litanies we chose were: “Light of the Patriarchs”, “Head of the Holy Family” and “Protector of the Holy Church”. The communion and confirmation groups and the pre-catechetical children would be in charge. Another litany was “Model of the workers”, where we engaged the employees of the Monteagudo commune. The health personnel, on their part, joined this parade, they represented the litany “Hope of the sick”.
We had the presence of our bishop on the day of the patronal feast. After the holy mass, the procession to the Virgin of the Rosary, patron saint of Monteagudo, which for two years we could not do it because of the pandemic, began. Incredibly, more than 3000 people gathered. At the end of the procession, the gaucho salute began and then our parade of floats took place. Everyone was very excited with the participation of all the people. People came from the city, from other provinces and from our closest towns.
Thanks to St. Joseph this year we were able to honor our Patron Saint the Virgin of Candelaria. As always the faith of this saint and his trust in God, even through fears and frailties, prompted us to “put the helm of our boat in God’s hands”, as Pope Francis says in his letter Patris Corde.
Once again: THANK YOU SAINT JOSEPH.
