It is a great joy for me to share with you all my beautiful missions. For the feast of Corpus Christi, my mother superior entrusted me with a little village called Puñón, and she gave me complete freedom to do it, that is to say, in whatever way I could think of. I began to prepare myself in advance, as if it were a great procession.
The big day arrived, and I left very early, accompanied by a lady. When we arrived, we immediately went out to knock on the doors of the houses, and invited people to join us in the procession, to prepare their altars. I invited the police station, the handicraft house, the sports clubs, etc. The people in this village are cold, and my superior told me to do what I could. So I said to myself: if the people don’t respond, then it doesn’t matter, I will go alone, I will go out on the streets with Jesus.
At 3 p.m. I started the celebration. One lady came, and a few children, which was a great joy for me, because I had the hope that more would come. I did not expect the surprises that Jesus had prepared for himself. We went out to the procession, and everything was ready. I asked a lady to help me sing. All along the route I found 10 altars, which people had prepared according to their possibilities, their affection. I thought I was not going to see any. At each altar we made prayers, petitions and songs. At the last altar Jesus rewarded everyone by giving them a delicious snack, surely he saw them tired, as the procession lasted 4 hours, and in his gentleness he gave them this reward. About 20 people participated in the procession, including children and adults.
On this day the people of Puno did penance. I said to myself: if they don’t go to church, then let them walk. I offered everything that was done that day so that the people of Peñón would be more fervent. So we finished this mission, although we did not have lunch, but the procession was beautiful. This was a great joy that I carry in my heart.
